so there was this 'haiku to the death' contest on a radio station (r.i.p. rev 105) that grew out of some chatroom battles, me v. someone else. long story on how that came to be that i so will not be going into.
we had to do a series of poems on a subject chosen by the judges, who were d.j.s at the station for the final. long story short, i won. (poetry available upon request.)
the prize was a trip to the radio station and going on the air to read some of the winning poems. i managed to time my visit to when they might be giants were in the studio also. (geek karma, geek fate, what have you, though i don't recall that part as deliberate... the date i picked, yes, that tmbg were going to be there, no...).
when they got in the studio and were doing the interview, during on-air breaks i was sking questions from the station's online chatroom to the band and typing their answers back (chock full o'typos).
apparently the band were also doing some recording at pachyderm and the station was letting some listeners go visit. needless to say i got myself on the guest list (plus most of the chatroom that wanted to go). that would be part 2.
anyway, i got pics of the band and the staff, and the radio station was nice enough to give me a copy of a tmbg album to have signed (that's why i don't think i knew they were coming or i would've brought one of mine to sign...).
