note: chris doleman played for the minnesota vikings in the late 1980s, early to mid 1990s or so before he went to... some other team. this makes him vaguely famous enough to qualify for this section. 'cause i said so.

in the late 1980s, my late high school/early college job was working in a record store. that wasn't as cool as it seems, if it seems at all cool, but at least i could order what i wanted and get a discount on it.

anyway, to get back to the actual story, one day i was at the counter ringing up purchases, and a tall, very well-built guy was next. i rang up his purchases and we made the general chatter that happens in that kind of situation. i was thinking to myself that the guy was so huge, he looked liked a football player. the name on the credit card wasn't that familiar, but i never watched football, so that wasn't surprising.

after he left the store, i was informed that chris doleman indeed played football. defense. for the minnesota vikings. and my male co-workers were not happy at me for not calling them out of the back room.
